The Last Rodeo

October 17, 2018, Djemaa el-Fna Square, Marrakesh...

My steady go-to $15 Old Navy jeans ran their last good lap on this day two years ago. My partner took these photos as I got my boots cleaned and shined in the square.

(We'd taken a three-day Sahara tour and I'd had a run-in with a camel I was supposed to have milked.)

Less than 24 hours later, the jeans suffered a cataclysmic system failure as I crouched to adjust my rolling bag at Marrakesh Menara Airport.

We had a good ride. That was our longest trip up to that point -- two weeks in Spain and Portugal and two weeks in Morocco -- and I wore those jeans just about every day.

RIP... like literally.

(Note: Some may notice that the camel appears emaciated. For what it’s worth, we did not ride camels.)
