Yellow Lane Cafe, Bangkok

Lovely place. Nicely appointed. Lush garden. it was not the easiest place to get to or to find, especially if you’re averse to motorcycle taxis like I am.

The cappuccino tasted great but it wasn’t hot enough. Bruschetta was pretty but under-salted and I was scandalized that the tomato was cold.

I think they maybe were distracted with getting things set back up. Maybe they hadn’t been reopened for long with the coronavirus and all. The one Western guy there — who shushed the all-Thai staff when they started chatting and joking loudly; he must have been the owner or manager — had a light box set up and was shooting the food.

The cakes and pastries looked good. I would go back, maybe taking a taxi all the way there.

I liked the setting and I want that cake.
